B. Allan and Dmytro have shown ColorCode images
demonstrating red and Wojtek has laid down a challenge
to turn his lovely red orchid into ColorCode. Wojtek
says he is not much interested in a process which
cannot be done without purchasing the program and I
have sympathy with that.
The ColorCode program I have ordered from Denmark is
still in the post and so I decided to have a go at an
Amber/Blue anaglyph using Photoshop. The glasses from
American Paper Optics look brown / dark blue to me
rather than Amber. According to my dictionary Amber is
the colour of traffic lights - yellow.
So working from first principles, I processed a bright
red feijoa flower to brown / blue. I discovered the
dark blue filter was a bit difficult and caused
retinal rivalry by being too dark, which I am sure
Marshall would not enjoy. But if I brightened blue too
much it lost all detail and so the result here is a
compromise. ColorCode pictures are tinged blue to my
eye and perhaps the attempt to remove retinal rivalry
by enhancing blue is the cause of that? Dmytro's Grand
Canyon with Alionka does not show over much blue but
does have retinal rivalry since the right eye blue
seems too dark. I realise computer monitors and human
eyes may differ on colour assessment and I do not know
for sure that American ColorCode glasses I am using
are the same as the Danish ones.
Anyway, this is not a ColorCode picture, merely an
effort to match the American glasses. The result does
show red rather well, although not the intense crimson
of the flower. While mucking about with the blue
channel, I found the red colour improved as blue was
darkened, but at the cost of severe retinal rivalry.
So far I do not know how to stop blue leaking into
dark parts of the picture. I look forward to the
"real" ColorCode program.
