?

Larry,

As you know, I don't do phantograms that often.  When I do a regular 3D stereo at a 45 degree angle, someone usually says "you should have made it into a phantogram".

When I take an image of a fire hydrant, it's pretty much at the right angle for the capture so they're a favorite subject of mine for the phantogram format.  They're not that interesting unless you do something like a phantogram anyway.

When I first learned about phantograms, I actually printed one out and put it on a table and was pretty much blown away by the effect when viewed properly.  I only suggested the monitor method as an alternative.  My anaglyph prints don't come out too well generally and it also uses a lot of ink just for a view of the phantogram, not to mention the time and effort it takes.  However, when I send my emails to the group I generally BCC: it at the same time to about 35 friends that like to receive them as well.  Some of those friends have never experienced a phantogram before so once in a blue moon I send one out mostly for the new people on my list.

Cheers,
Brian

I just don?t get Phantograms, having to turn them at 45 degree  angles to view them. Why not just make a regular anaglyph and view it on the screen with out all the werid angles. I know some people like them, it is hard enough to get people to put on 3D glasses to view an image. Sorry I can?t get in to them at all. Phantogram people don?t hate me, it is just not my thing.

Fire Hydrant Phantogram

For the benefit of my BCC: friends...
This phantogram is meant to be viewed at a 45 degree angle.
Some print it out and put on a flat surface such as a table, while others arrange the angle to view on the monitor.
You may even turn the image sideways on the monitor and tilt your head to get the proper viewing angle.
At the proper angel the elongated image appears normal and pops off the surface with the illusion that you could grab it.

Cheers,
