Acquaintances
While at Cancun Cantina Friday, I happened to notice this group was trying
to take their own picture with a cell phone and I happened to be near by so I
volunteered to take the picture for them. Since I'm one of the few people
left in the world that has never owned a cell phone, I'm sure I seemed pretty
awkward asking for directions on how to take the picture. They pointed out
a round avatar that I was supposed to press. When I pressed it nothing
seemed to happen. I pressed harder... Then I asked if I was supposed
to press AND release which they probably had assumed I was going to do. Of
course, they checked out the image but I'm not sure they could see it that well
in the outdoor light. They asked if I was a decent photographer and I said
I didn't think I was too bad since the new local phone directory used one of my
images on the cover. This opened the social door of opportunity to
speak to them and introduce my 3D camera.
After a little socializing I asked to take their picture in 3D stereo and
showed them on the back of the camera. I took another picture then
volunteered to send them the pictures if one would give me their email
address. Of course, for them to see it in 3D at home they would need 3D
glasses so I got 4 pair of heavy duty cardboard individually packaged cinema
(Spy Kids 3D) glasses from my car and brought to them. I happened to have
the new local phone directory for Pasadena and Glen Burnie in the car so I
brought that also to further establish myself as a fairly reputable
photographer.
When processing their photo, the stereo version seemed to work best as
grayscale. I sent them the two color anaglyphs, plus a grayscale
version, and two regular 2D color formats. I asked in my email to please
respond to let me know she got them. A day later I got a 2-word reply
of... "Cool thanks".
