Thanks Larry.  This area of the city has lots of statues and a few monuments.  The big advantage is that they don't move when you take a cha cha.  : )

Cheers,
Brian

I always love to take pictures of statues, I think they look great in 3D.

A statue of Roger B. Taney, close to the United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon - Baltimore, MD.  (The steeple posted earlier is from the church in the background).

Roger Brooke Taney (pron.: /?t??ni/ TAW-nee; March 17, 1777 ? October 12, 1864) was the fifth Chief Justice of the United States, holding that office from 1836 until his death in 1864. He was the first Roman Catholic to hold that office or sit on the Supreme Court of the United States. He was also the eleventh United States Attorney General.

Taney married Anne Phebe Charlton Key, sister of Francis Scott Key, on January 7, 1806.[7] They had seven children together.

Taney personally administered the oath of office to Lincoln, his most prominent critic, on March 4, 1861.[14]

Taney died during the final months of the American Civil War on the same day that his home state of Maryland abolished slavery.

Taney's home, Taney Place, located at Adelina, Calvert County, Maryland was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

Another Taney home is located in Frederick, Maryland where Taney lived and practiced law with partner Francis Scott Key, the author of "The Star Spangled Banner".
