Thank you, Ray. The rock is actually sitting in water. Big Basin Redwoods State Park is in Santa Cruz County (not far from San Jose). I live in Soquel which is in Santa Cruz County.

Another fine IR image, David ! It looks like the infra-red portion of the light spectrum is not reflected by the dirt. It is almost black. Interesting effect.
I see that Redwoods State Park is California's oldest state park and is not far from San Jose. Do you live near that location?

Here is image of the week #19. It was made in Big Basin Redwoods State Park in Santa Cruz County. It is of a Bracken Fern on a rock in West Berry Creek. It was made with 2 Olympus E-PL1 cameras converted to infra-red sensitivity. You may also view it on my website and see it as a parallel or cross-eyed view. http://www.davidmleephotography.com/image-of-the-week-2013.htmlDavid Lee
