Marshall,

I disagree that an anaglyph done with a base of more than the space between human eyes in unrealistic. I am looking out my window right now and see depth far beyond what I have seen the Fuji cameras produce. I have seen fantastic shots of close-up items with the background ending with a wall or such done with the Fuji. But I have also done many with my pair of A560 Powershots that have great depth and look perfectly natural.

As an example, I attached one of my favorite shots of the mile-long Rockland Breakwater (re-post) that to me looks as real as it gets. I feel like I can walk right into the scene. The depth in this shot goes just beyond the people who are at least 1/4 mile away. I do not remember the base, but I suspect it is to the wider end of my rig, which is capable of a 20" base. Not hyper, and in my opinion, not at all exaggerated...but rather, very realistic.

Mainer--

This again is the W3.  I hold a different view from probably the majority of our members when it comes
to the capabilities of the W1/W3 cameras.  The lens separation vs. the normal focal length of these cameras
closely follows that of our eyes, yielding close to the way we see in real life, much in the way the Stereo Realist
genre of the Fifties did, and no one then complained about the cameras' shallow stereo bases.

Nowadays each succeeding accomplishment must be followed by another that is more spectacular, and in
stereo we have come to crave views with increased depth, resulting in our becoming jaded when it's
about depth.  We want more and more.  Although I too enjoy special effects at times, I usually prefer that
stereo represent reality, rather than be loaded with special effects, and hyperstereo, or exaggerated depth to me
often falls within that category.

Thanks so much for your thoughts.

Marshall

Another excellent anaglyph. If this is that Fuji W1 (or 2??) then this is (IMO) what it is best suited for.

A NEW REMEMBRANCE

Fortunately Dan is an experienced photographer so I can trust that he'll compose a fine remembrance of our reunion with
Prudence.  This is his first stereo shot, ever.  Not bad!
