Marshall,

Suppose for a minute that someone looking at that post is not automatically (or obviously) looking at the image as you have always assumed and remarked upon.  For instance, in my bowser, the image is only a thumbnail until I click on it.  So, it is NOT always obvious what the image contains upon the opening of the email.  When reading the text they are informed of what the image contains and then can make the choice based on their interest, to open the image for larger details.  This may be even more valid when our posts are read from our group's archive or when discovered through internet searches.

We've been through these issues many times in the past.  I know the image has some card-boarding since the subject was at least 30 feet away and the image was taken at full zoom.&nb sp; It would be impossible NOT to have card-boarding.    My mentioning  the card-boarding may benefit some other viewers who DO notice a little flatness which I'm merely explaining in anticipation of their questioning it and thereby saving them the trouble of inquiry on that particular item.  I'm not in some competition in this group where I need to hide my flaws until someone else has the "joy" of discovering them (or the disappointment not to). Still others who may notice imperfections but aren't active members may still appreciate an explanation.  I don't look at it as "downgrading my own image" but sharing information and experiences with like-minded fellow enthusiasts.  There are some others in the group that may have a slightly different agenda, such as the joy of experimenting and hope of improving images through the shared experiences and insights.

What I write or do not write is my purogative within the guidelines of the gro up rules and I don't appreciate being critisized on every grammatical error when this is an international group in which we look past minor errors in language in light of the more important and primary subject of 3D stereo and anaglyph images in particular.   If I somehow get my message across, to me I've succeeded in that regard.

There are reasons for just about everything I do but they may not fit someone else's expectations of what they may expect or their own personal decisions on HOW to post in this group.  I also may not have the benefit of your college education or experience in news or journalism, so cut me a little slack.  I'd like to enjoy posting with fellow group members and not feeling like I have to look over my shoulder every time I type a letter.  I'm not trying to win a Pulitzer Prize here and I'm not trying to put out a news paper.

If it REALLY matters that much to you, the reason (which I thought would be obvio us by now) that I mentioned the "mono camera" is because a couple of other active members have expressed interest in the camera and I was letting them know once I start processing images taken by the camera of that subject, I will be looking to see if I can get a pair of images to work as a cha cha.  I doubted that I would be successful but at this point I'm not sure since I have yet to edit them.  NO BIGGIE!

RELAX Marshall... enjoy your retirement and let me enjoy mine.

Cheers,
Brian

Brian--

To your credit, as well as that of the Fuji W1, I see no cardboarding.  It's a matter of personal taste, but I think that had the view been cropped to remove everything below
the top line of birds the framing would have been more pleasing, yielding a psuedo panoramic effect.  The bottom portion might have been saved and posted as an additional view.

I think that the commentary might have been more compelling had you omitted mention of ducks and geese, since that's evident the moment the picture is viewed.  It was
a good idea to indicate the whereabouts of this view, since that's NOT obvious. In addition, you needn't tell us that "Here is an image," which again is obvious.

Another problem with the commentary is that you mention a possible flaw (cardboarding) which is best left to the members to discover and comment on.  Why use your own
words to downgrade a view that is pretty good, and why deprive the members of the enjoyment of discovering and learning about problems by themselves?

Finally, why bother to mention what you DIDN'T post (images taken with your mono camera).  To me that only makes sense if you have stereos from that camera to also display.

Some may think that I'm wrong to critique the commentary, but it's as much part of the view as is your name, and therefore is fair game for critiquing.

I'd like to thank everyone who commented on the " '57 T-Bird" post.

Here is an image of some geese, baby geese, and some ducks relaxing at Lake Waterford Park.  (It's good to know at least some different species can get along together in the same place even if they leave each other alone).

The image might have a little cardboarding due to the W1's narrow stereo base for this distance and zooming in for a closer view.  I also took VERY close pictures with the Nikon D600 but of course, they would be difficult stereo cha chas considering the water movement even though the birds were fairly still.

W1, PS CS6, SPM, IrfanView.

Cheers,
Brian
