Dear Mark,
here I send you what I mean about calibrating your image with Selective colors. Of course no anaglyph is like another one... and all of what I say based on continious precticing and modifying all ruels and cromatical combinations but practicing the Selective color formula ( after choosing the right brighness and contrast) remains a basilar way to kill ghosts! :-)
here are the images of selecting and modifying colors on the selective colors by moving the shifts and choose the "right" or
appropiate values:

Perhaps you could clarify:
For your anaglyph method you say, "
then open "Selective colors" and then choose Red -20, Cyan +20,"
I do not find an option in "Selective colors" I can use to adjust the Red to -20.
