Thanks Duke.  It was fun working on it.

Cheers,
Brian

This is a composite of two 3D stereo Chaoscope (fractal-based freeware) anaglyph designs and some 2D Photoshop Paintbrush work to create a fantasy-type sphere abstract of pure imagination.

The Chaoscope freeware is not in itself a 3D stereo program.  I was able save a design, then rotate it horizontally for a slightly different perspective and save a second time with a different filename.  From the two different perspective saved images you can combine them as you normally would a cha cha type of 3D stereo.  Within Photoshop, I overlayed two of these "3D" designs (actually created several years ago), adjusted layer opacity and added some Photoshop Brush work for the clumped "stars".

The original 3D Chaoscope designs were small dimensions and resolution (because of our group's file size limit at the time).  I wanted to create a larger version for several reasons but as you know, quality is expected to suffer when enlarging an image.  I used the "Convert to Smart Object" in PS-CS6, and under the menu "Image Size", I upped the resolution.  I then went to "Filter", "Stylize", "Diffuse", and clicked the mode option - "Anisotropic".  After that I used a noise filter to reduce noise and then flattened the image.  I adjusted brightness and contrast to my preference and saved with a new file name.

Cheers,
Brian
