I wasn't sure what this marker was supposed to represent at the entrance to a home at Griffith Lake in Delaware. At first I thought it was supposed to be a miniature replica of a lighthouse, but there was no light at the top of the tower. After processing the image I zoomed in using IrfanView and read the plaque at the base which said, "Windmill constructed by Eddy Medeiros and Teddy Simmons September 1990". I wonder when it lost it's wind blades?
Info From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:A
windmill is a machine that converts the
energy of wind into rotational energy by means of vanes called
sails or blades.
[1][2] Originally, windmills were developed for
milling grain for food production. Over the course of history, windmill machinery has been adapted to serve many other industrial uses.
[3] The majority of modern windmills take the form of
wind turbines used to generate electricity, or
windpumps used to pump water, either for land drainage or to extract
groundwater.
