You creat another image changing (or decrease) its message of course! The fact that he is the sole person in the middle of the street despite others are walking under their umbrellas underline his unique gesture in comparison with others, otherwise alone he is not doing something special..!!!

I'd crop a third of the width off the left side and another third off the right side to create a narrow image. I think that would better convey the lonely runner on a long run.
