Hi Art,
Cool shots. Bugs on snow are quite common. For example this is a hand print with some aphids and beetles, made on Rito Alto Peak (Sangre de Cristo Mtns, ~13,800?) last October.

The Furcula is the thing laid flat on his/her belly that it "springs" with.
They are also known as Snow Fleas.
