Valiant effort. As you mentioned, the squirrel would appear better entirely in frame but everything else looks great to me. Sharp focus, and even the background is focused. Maybe you could try luring birds with seeds placed on the birdbath? Of course that may also lure more squirrels. : )

Canon SL1 twin-rig on a tripod, framing the bowl of a birdbath.
Shutters were
operated from a distance by wireless remote control.
My goal was to catch a bird bathing, then extract the bowl from the background to
improve composition and avoid excess stereo base.
But in over two hours I only got this squirrel, which jumped up and sat on the edge (unfortunately partly out of frame) to get a drink of water.
