Another object too big to fit inside the Vestry House Museum.
We had a hand-cranked clothes wringer when I was growing up in England
in the 1950s, and later we got an electric washing machine. But rather
than a spin cycle to remove water from the laundry, it had a smaller
version of the wringer mounted on top, powered by the washing machine.
You still had to feed the wet clothes through it by hand, of course.
