Wow, Really impressive Juliette... especially on MPO format for my 3D TV 55". 3D is more impressive than on my small monitor 22" and of course the best will be on a big silver screen with polarized video projection, like more bigger is the screen more 3D give you immersion. So I'm please to have create the 3D-TV(-at-)yahoogroup.fr for international MPO format exchange...  and the background of the second with good depth level give like a complex city structure fare from the ground. It will be nice for use in a S-F 3D movie.
 On the first version the background is not at the well depth level so we less believe could be a 3D future city of a 3D movie.

See file of my adjustment in anaglyph red/green (also for use of red/cyan glasses) but to avoid color let see only the relief without any color disturbing and red+green give a yellow dominate avoid ghosting.
Nice to be use for correcting demonstrate or science picture where color is not needed.
Your version "another mandelbulb" have a bit left border with window violation (a bit pop-up), but it is better to avoid pop-up on left and right borders, less disturbing on top on down border (like do 3D movie makers) so I let the pop-up here.
An other way will be to make distort window like some 3D movie maker use (James Cameron for AVATAR use it a lot, to see the 3D movie without glasses bring you many mounting effect use.
