This coin was a 1916 Indian Head (buffalo) five cent piece and was real currency. During the 1920-1930 hobo?s would carve nickel?s and give them to people who fed them or housed them as a token of appreciation, today they are carved by artists and engravers and sold as fantasy pieces on E-Bay and coin shows. Most are still carved on the Indian Head nickels of the past.LR
