Hi Brian, of course orange color is not good generally for red/cyan anaglyph and it is because SPM (or Photoshop if you do with and know how) mount with "half color" or Dubois.
But, like orange (and also cyan color) is the best color for magenta/green anaglyph (mount with SPM "anaglyph optimized code" or Photoshop) there is a way to keep an orange color same as for red/cyan glasses. Start mount can be done with SPM but need a final Photoshop color correcting tool. See my sample joint made with your picture.
The orange color is better with good magenta/green glasses (TrioViz buy to APO or to me in Europe) but with red/cyan glasses you will not see exaggerate disparate density (like will do a mount in red/cyan mode without color correcting) because the help of color correcting in magenta/green mode.
