The bottom line is the love of sports funds the fantastic salaries... Supply and demand. In other words, it's the fan, and sports enthusiasts that keep the sport going in the direction you see it. It's not only baseball, but any popular sport. You think it's corrupted in baseball with drugs etc.... wait until they start investigating football! At least baseball is trying to crack down on the drug issue. Doping goes on in many facets of sports and probably most well known in the area of cycling in order to circumvent drug testing. In baseball, I don't think the spirit of the game is entirely lost in the younger non-professional leagues. When we were young it was still a game and we would play it professionally for no pay if we could just for the love of the game. Yes, money leads to corruption in all facets of life, not just sports. The world is not perfect and neither are the people in it. Life is not fair, and at some point we come to that realization. All you can do is try to improve things the best you can and hope you have influence on others to do the same.
Cheers,
Brian

That?s a good deal! ;-)
But seriously, the whole enterprise is going the wrong way. The players earn insane money, they don?t know what to do with it and they get distorted and corrupted by it. Sad story. No fun, lots of stress, doping etc.
Is the spirit of the game lost already?

I got the seat for nothing since someone else couldn't go and it was offered to me. They wouldn't take any money for it.
