Thank you Larry.  I generally use the 1/30 guideline as reference in my mind and after a while, get kind of a feel for it.  I'm not opposed to taking more than two sequential shots with increased stereo base either, especially if the shot is an uncommon or unusual distance to the subject, and later selecting the best combo of two shots for the cha cha.  All that to say, it boils down to a little knowledge and some "trial and error".  The real problems for me usually come from shadows which move between shots and later can not be totally aligned.  Even in this shot, I cloned a section of the deck where light and shadows changed between shots.  It's not as good as a sync'd shot but better than leaving it untouched.  Changing light conditions from moving clouds in front of the sun can also be a problem so it's probably best to take the 2nd shot as quickly as possible after the 1st shot.

Shadow movement from trees can sometimes seem accentuated because the distance from the branch/leaves on the tree to the ground shadow increases the length of movement because it's directly proportional.  It's like the difference between a standard lens and a telescopic lens.  The telescopic lens shows much more blur from camera movement because of the increased distance to the focal point (subject).  A little movement at the camera end = greater movement at the subject end.  If my mis-sync'd areas are too great to be fixed by cloning, I'd have to go to my W1 for synching L & R images together at capture.  I usually prefer to get away with my Nikon when I can because of the better resolution and all round image quality.

Cheers,
Brian

Your cha-cha?s are excellent Brian, I wish I knew your secret on how to do them.

An area at Downs Park in Pasadena, Maryland that has two small pavilions sharing a large deck.  I like the wooden deck because of the character is brings to the view.  (Behind the camera is a basketball court).

There are other areas around the park that are laid out differently but have similar features such as a very large pavilion with a concrete based floor, fireplace, and loaded with pick-nick tables.

I talked to a couple I met at the park who said they have friends that were married at Downs Park.

Cha cha, Nikon D600, FL 24mm,  PS-CS6, ACR, SPM, IrfanView.

Cheers,
Brian
