Thanks, Larry. Yes, they do resemble eggs - especially the one that the slugs hollowed out.

I saw a group of about 150 small ball-shaped fungi (don't know what they are), and for days I have meant to go back with a camera.  It looks like the slugs got there before I returned. The large ones are a little over 0.75 inches in diameter.
 
Canon DSLR, 100 mm lens, slide bar - stereo base a little more than 1 inch.
