You may remember
the "Art Crab" I posted recently from Annapolis, MD.
I returned yesterday
evening and took a shot of the house. You can see the crab on the right
side.
The place is a Law firm, (Alexander & Cleaver Attorneys At Law) but
during processing I noticed a plaque on the wall that says, "Katherine Hepburn
Slept Here". I was also able to find the same information with a search on
the web...
This
is the home that Katharine Hepburn?s paternal Uncle built in Annapolis, Maryland
in 1911. It?s address is 54 State Circle. It was erected just about the time
that The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center was built in Old Saybrook,
Connecticut.
Dr. Sewell Hepburn did his training at the nearby
Johns Hopkins. There has been a historical marker placed on this house with the
inscription that you see on this post. Reportedly Katharine Hepburn spent time
with her family here and when Kate came to call her limousine had trouble
negotiating the street on which this house sits.
The photos on the
Historical Marker Database
site were taken by Christopher Busta-Peck in March of 2008.
It?s kind of a
neat little fact that perhaps not many of you knew.
