It might help if I knew your results and/or your method(s) for doing them.

Assuming you've got the basics correct, and may be having trouble with the stereo base... try taking a succession of shots from left to right at small horizontal intervals.  During processing, try several different combinations of stereo pairs until you've found the best L & R chips that work.  Hint, a close shot doesn't require much horizontal movement for the cha cha.  Of course, try not to toe-in unless it's a macro.  A slide bar on a tripod may help with this as by keeping the distance to the subject controlled and the vertical height of the camera the same for all shots.

If I'm going to the trouble of using a tripod, I usually will trip the camera shutter with a remote, or 2 second delay on the shutter timer to minimize camera movement.  If camera movement is a problem causing blur, try  a faster shutter speed with the appropriate F-Stop.

I'm sure you've incorporated these tips but someone else reading this may find it useful.

Cheers,
Brian

Thanks for posting your pirate mug Larry.

I usually do cha chas of subjects that don't move.  Partly habit for me since I started practicing 3D stereo with a single P&S.  Now I rely on the better quality of my DSLR for the shots but the convenience of being able to carry the camera in your pocket is a big advantage when away from home.

Cheers,
Brian
