Notice, when you have orange color (like Goldfish), I use sometime myself magenta/green mount (code to enter in SPM), like this equilibrate better color density disparity
and if you well adjust the mount, this permit use of red/cyan glasses too... and you will see better the orange color... Vs the green of Dubois mode.
Best magenta/green glasses are TRIOVIZ (APO), not TRISCOPIC glasses (bad filters balance). With magenta/green glasses the orange and clear blue colors are boost.
SPM low definition (better if mount with Photoshop).

Regarding police, I got also an Air police control when coming in FL USA with my package for 3D camera, like a long black PVC tube paint in black  (look like a weapon, bazooka) ;-)
Happily I stick on an NSA picture of Eisenhower 3D Power (I was NSA member in this period). When they see it they become much more friendly. Of course  it was before 11 September WTC attack. In France I never got police control, but sometime some bad people (when 3D shoot during night in harbor) try to approach me... I had a gun wooden copy I made myself (like a shadow) put in my pocket to let see a part of it. Each time those bad people see it they change of direction. Of course I quickly mask it when a police car coming. I alway use a camera tripod so I never had police control.

Minox camera 24x36 slides (synch by myself, also with Flash)

I can give you some other personal incidences that have happened to me over the years.  Way back in my twenties I was photographing a power plant on the river from a hill just west of town.  The time was about 2:00 a.m.  The police came down the road, hit me with a spotlight, then thoroughly interrogated me as to what I was doing.  After I explained that photography was basically a hobby, one said, "That just doesn't seem right, taking a picture at two in the morning."  People can't relate to behaviour outside a limited view of what is considered "normal" (which was never one of my my strong suits).  I was stopped again in a similar situation a while later.  Much later I was confronted by the authorities at a large local outdoor event, they said that people claimed I was taking pictures of their children.  Once again it was the lack of understanding that I was just taking general shots to capture the flavor of the event.  I think the main problem is with engaging in any kind of behaviour which is outside the realm of what average people consider normal.  But on the other hand, I can understand the increased paranoia in today's tumultuous, uncertain world.  But I am much more cognizant of my environment when I shoot pictures these days.

You are right Duke, we are being photographed when we visit almost any public or private building without our consent, an yet we are not allowed to photograph at all. I wonder if any other members have comments on being hassled some where they were taking pictures, I would love to hear their stories also. Thanks for sharing your story with me.

There are many situations where picture-taking is not allowed, and there are other situations where it's perfectly legal yet some people have a big problem with it (like your fire truck on a public street).  You are right about malls and retail stores, picture-talking is almost always prohibited.  I was confronted by security one time when I was trying out a 3D rig in the mall (the guard was very nice in that case, though).  Perhaps the best thing to do is know the specific laws in your own state.  Regardless, I would generally do what I could to avoid a confrontation.  People, in general, are far more paranoid about being photographed than they used to be.  It's ironic, though, because ALL of us are under the constant scrutiny of security cameras.  We're not living in the 1950s anymore!

Thanks Duke for your honest reply. I once got in trouble for taking pictures of a fire truck on a public street at a city festival. I did not touch anything, just took pictures and had six firemen who surround me and not to nicely asking me to leave. I complied but lost a lot of respect for firemen that day. I told them I was taking 3D pictures and loved taking pictures of the fire truck and its cool nozzles and things. So that Fall I went to a Firemen's breakfast and paid $5.00 for pancakes, sausages and all the pictures I wanted of the fire trucks. This time I had a local police man follow me around the fire station and he started taking pictures of me. This is crazy but a true story.

Nice catch, do they mind you taking pictures at Walmart? I know Toys R Us does not allow pictures at all, or my local mall, you can be ticketed, because of private property.
