I think that you are right, Brian. I chose an overly complex image to begin with. As I got further and further into the image conversion, I found more and more that needed to be done. At times, I lost patience, resulting in multiple mistakes. For starters, I need to get my impatient temperament under control, set a plan for the image conversion, and stick to the plan with no shortcuts while paying attention to detail. If I didn't learn anything else from this image, I learned that each element in an image has its own individual stereoscopic characteristics. A different conversion approach must be used for each element.  In this image, there were just too many elements to deal with (at least for a beginner).  I will be sure to check out the tutorials that you pointed out. I am sure that I will make good use of the information. I have a long way to go, but I am determined to master this. Thanks for your help, Brian.

Hi Ray,

Not sure if you know or not so I'll mention that our group has several tutorials created to help in converting an image.  One by Mark using Photoshop, featuring the history brush and another from me using the clone tool in SPM.  For mine, check in the Group Files under a folder with my name.  (You may need to "sign in" for access to the group files section).

For your first attempts, I suggest selecting something less complex and build from there.  With experience you should get quite good providing you have the patience for the pixel shifting method.

All the best...
Brian

Subject: [Anaglyphs] 2D to 3D conversion

It has been a while since I last checked in here. My mother was just discharged from the hospital again with another bout of pneumonia, and she is back at the nursing home. This time, she had a collapsed left lung, and they were not able to bring the lung back to normal. She is now on oxygen 24/7, and she is still coughing badly at times. I have placed her under hospice care. I really do not know where we will go from here. ...Day at a time.
While sitting in the hospital for endless hours, I decided to try to teach myself how to do 2D to 3D conversions on my 11 inch netbook. "Try" is the key word here. I have attempted this several times before, and I was never very good at it. I have always admired the conversion work done by Brian, Larry, Duke, Mike and others. I could never seem to match their level of achievement. Attached in my latest attempt. It is of an aeronautical painting that I found online. I know that there are some problems with this image, so be kind. I'm still trying to learn. I just got tired of working on it and decided to call it quits for this one and go on to another image.
Thanks for looking, guys.
