Hello, Dariush !
Thank you so much for your comments on my attempt at this 3D conversion. There are many flaws, but I am working to improve my methods. I must say that your conversion of the John Lennon and Yoko Ono image is EXCELLENT!! Perfect depth rendition in all aspects, especially of the curvature(s) of the human body. Detail is superb. You are so right about leaving the image alone for a day and then come back to it. The errors stand out immediately when coming back to it.
I need a lot of practice, need to learn additional methods, and maybe some day I will become good at doing this. I am looking forward to starting my next image.
Thanks again for commenting, Dariush, and for sharing your converted image of John and Yoko
Ray

Hello Dear Ray,
what iI think that is absolutly necessary to mentiont regarding the Art and technique of 2D>3D conversion is the good knowlage of human anatomy and theoriy of the perspective, otherwise any attempt will result grottesque and wrong! No tool can be helpfull in this issue if you don't know and can't calculate how much the man's
nose is leftover than the eyes and so on! So what you need is a
good study of perspective and anatomy and of course a lot of practice. One very important point is to stop conversing at certain point and come back on it a day after to look carefully again to recognize your errors! Don't forget to keep your ambition high, because the final result must be a perfect 3D image exactly as a genuin one! :-)
I add a copy example of one of my conversions.

Hi Ray,
Not sure if you know or not so I'll mention that our group has several tutorials created to help in converting an image. One by Mark using Photoshop, featuring the history brush and another from me using the clone tool in SPM. For mine, check in the Group Files under a folder with my name. (You may need to "sign in" for access to the group files section).
For your first attempts, I suggest selecting something less complex and build from there. With experience you should get quite good providing you have the patience for the pixel shifting method.
All the best...
Brian

Subject: [Anaglyphs] 2D to 3D conversion
It has been
a while since I last checked in here. My mother was just discharged
from the hospital again with another bout of pneumonia, and she is back
at the nursing home. This time, she had a collapsed left lung, and they
were not able to bring the lung back to normal. She is now on oxygen
24/7, and she is still coughing badly at times. I have placed her under
hospice care. I really do not know where we will go from here. ...Day at
a time.
While sitting in the hospital for endless hours, I
decided to try to teach myself how to do 2D to 3D conversions on my 11
inch netbook. "Try" is the key word here. I have attempted this several
times before, and I was never very good at it. I have always admired the
conversion work done by Brian, Larry, Duke, Mike and others. I could
never seem to match their level of achievement. Attached in my latest
attempt. It is of an aeronautical painting that I found online. I know
that there are some problems with this image, so be kind. I'm still
trying to learn. I just got tired of working on it and decided to call
it quits for this one and go on to another image.
Thanks for looking, guys.
