Thanks, I did that very thing (side-stepping), but liked this composition the best overall.

I know it's pretty difficult not to get your own reflection in that kind of shot.  You'd have to stand at the side, hold your arm outstretched and guesstimate the framing angle.  It would probably take a number of experimental tries.
