Thanks Mark.  Yes, the water freezes over even though there's still some salt in it here.  Where I'm located, (close to a marina) there are many boats and piers, so to protect them from damage, some ice-eaters are used to prevent freezing around pilings and piers.  (moving water is more difficult to freeze). Unless the temps stay below freezing for a long time, the water may get a thin layer of ice during the Winter night and thaw out under the sun during the day.

I thought I'd try and capture the snow on the front yard which faces the water on a waterfront property.

It was nice and sticky with the temps hovering around 33 degrees F.
