Along my neighbor's shoreline, he has rip-rap (rocks) put there instead of a bulkhead which he claims is not allowed these days.  The rip-rap
is to prevent/reduce erosion. 

The snow was lightly coating the rocks and ice and I took the opportunity to capture it.
