What is it about the design of gumball machines that gives them a special appeal?
Is it the shiny glass and chrome? The view of tasty gumballs just out of our reach? The chance that there might be a gumball just behind the chrome flap hiding the exit shoot? Perhaps all of the above! Is there any of us that have not wanted one of our own to keep in our house?
As a kid, I guess I wasn't much different then other kids whose parents didn't spoil us... But because they didn't cater to every whim we whined about, whenever I saw a little door like that I always checked behind it to see if something was there. Surprisingly, sometimes there was! It was like winning at a one-arm-bandit. And it was a thrill for this young lad. A cheap thrill, but a thrill non-the-less. ; )
Cheers,
Brian

Last of two for now. Gumball machines at a shopping mall in White Plains, NY. Pentax Optio, cha-cha, shot at night, no flash.
