Behind the Old
Wye Church is an old cemetery. In recent years, a pedestrian foot
bridge (Sylvia's Bridge) was constructed across a narrow stream to the
edge of an adjoining field. There, I discovered this marker with a
near-by concrete bench for sitting, praying, meditating, or just
resting. Thus far, they are the only items on that side of the stream
adjoining the Old Wye Cemetery.
The day was dark, gloomy,
overcast, warm and humid for Christmas Eve (75 F), breaking long standing temperature records for the area on this date. It later rained
quite heavily a few hours after this shot was made. I caught what might
have been the only remnants of sunlight spotted during the evening
hours yet barely piercing the overcast of heavy clouds.
I hoped
that the timing of evening sunlight and the discovery of this marker
would combine for an interesting silhouette image from this angle with
the field and sky as a background. I increased vibrancy to bring out
the colors of the sky and hopefully a more artistic composition.
