No need to buy a new scanner, it works with any flatbed scanner. That was a joke about a new HP 3D.

But seriously, try it for yourself. Place an object on a flatbed scanner and scan a chip. Move the object to the side an appropriate distance and scan the other chip. It works, but I don't yet understand why.
