I really like your idea...I didn't think of that since I shot the geese almost directly overhead, not coming towards me at an angle.  Your version gives a more dynamic 3-D effect, and I don't find it hard to view.

Yes... my result is not very good... the Moon surface behind the head pilote geese will need some correcting about gray density rivalry... I made some but not enough. A white part on the surface Moon right to the first bird is too much disturbing.

I grabbed this shot of a flock of geese in V-formation while walking by the lake in a park, then decided to have them flying across the face of the Moon as generated in Celestia software.

Panasonic Lumix, single shot (converted to 3-D), Celestia, Stereo Photo Maker, Photoshop.
