You can view anaglyphs with 100% discrete red and cyan lines ("field
sequential anaglyphs") on a CRT (interlaced) TV, but you will have the
same identical 60hz (NTSC) flicker as with standard field sequential
3D. A scan rate doubler would solve the flicker problem, but good luck
finding one!
Here's how to make a "field sequential anaglyph" with VirtualDub:
Download the Interlaced RBG filter from here (we had this filter
written for this purpose a few years ago, via the Yahoo 3DTV group):
http://www.geocities.com/gc_timsara/vdub.html
Then, load your anaglyph in VirtualDub. It will have to be a BMP, or
try an AviSynth script (ImageReader / ImageSource) for other still
image formats.
Then apply the Interlaced RGB filter. Under "Even Lines" and "Cancel",
click on "G" and "B". Under "Odd Lines" and "Cancel", click on "R".
Unlike standard (non-anaglyph) field sequential 3D, it won't matter if
you get the fields reversed. Be sure to resize it to 720x480 (for
NTSC). 50hz PAL TVs would probably flicker like crazy, identically to
standard FS 3D. Ask Ged or the UK guys (Yahoo 3DTV group) about
this... I can't remember.
You'll probably have to burn a slide show to DVD with interlaced MPEG
2 encoding. Be sure it is _interlaced_ and don't blend the fields
(many DVD encoders will blend them these days). I can't remember if I
ever tried to feed it directly from a PC to a TV (via PC S-video
output to TV S-Video input). I don't think it worked, but I know for
sure an interlaced MPEG 2 on DVD works. I did this quite a few times,
years ago.
You might find other ways to create the "field sequential anaglyph",
e.g. I know you can also do it with Adobe After Effects.

Have fun!
