The Great Swamp is a national wildlife preserve
located outside of Morristown, in northern New Jersey. Unlike many of our
national parks there are no rugged trails,
campsites, or ferocious beasts lurking about.
Instead there are several paths and boardwalks that allows visitors to easily
stroll through the facility in sweet solitude,
with only the sounds of gentle breezes, an
occasional running stream, some birds and other common
creatures.
When I resided in New Jersey I visited this site at
least twice a year, giving me a chance to collect my thoughts, and grab a few
photos. Last month I stopped by on
my way home from a visit to a friend. This
first view is at the beginning of one of the trails, with nine more views to
follow in peace.
