Thanks Larry,
Yes those little critters are quick but squirrels like to move and
freeze, move and freeze. Sometimes your luck is when they don't hide on
the other side of the tree like they usually do. If you find a
neighborhood where they're somewhat used to people you might have better
luck.
I only got the cameras this past week but so far I like them. they
are much bulkier and heavier of course, so I had to develop a new technique for
the 2 finger sync but because both cameras are the same type, I find it easier
to trigger both at the same time. We'll find out shortly because today I
went downtown to the annual Fell's Point Festival and used up my batteries
and at least 220 stereo pics. The cameras have a movement stabilizer
option and also a mechanism to shake off dust from the sensor. Even a
sticky strip to catch the dust "internal" below the sensor. Pentax is the
only make I found that have both these options for under $1000. They're
also the only camera I've found for that price that is water resistant (27
seals). The only place not sealed this way is where the lens connects to
the camera body.
It was a big decision to get two DSLRs but I'll be retiring in 2 more work
days so I guess I can consider this a retirement gift to myself. I got the
kits which provide the fast chargers and longer lasting batteries and filters
for the lens too. The lenses are standard starter type lenses but I read
on the internet that they're not bad. They're 18 mm to 55 mm, about 3X
zoom. Maybe in the future I'll get other lenses. I'll probably like
something in a macro and also a nice zoom. My old Konica film SLR had a
both macro and Zoom in one lens and was designed not to be too long.
I went downtown today almost on a whim when I awoke about 6:30, and decided
to try and get ready then go downtown where I work in order to capture the
demolition (blow up) of Mercy Parking lot right across from where I work.
I thought I would try and go to the roof of my building and take the
images. I looked for parking but as I turned the corner I heard the blast
go off and when I got out of the car the cloud of dust started falling on my new
cameras. I got back in the car and went back to the Inner Harbor.
The blast went off right on time at 7:30 am and I didn't make it in time to get
inside my work place. They had already mounted a cam on top of my building
to capture the explosion which I saw on the news when I got home.
I'm charging my batteries now, and in a little while I'll start the
uploading and editing process on the images today.
Stay tuned!
Cheers,
Brian

Squirrel/Brian
Brian, a nice picture, I always try to capture those little
guys,
but they are pretty fast. How do you like your new
cameras?
