Excellent photo of the mountain
I visited the site the following year and several times later in the 80's and I was continually amazed at the natural recovery each year;; just nature at work
It was a beautiful mountain before the big eruption;; maybe it will be again someday
Glad you published this photo since the movie around the mountain was a great accomplishment, but it did exaggerate the height and the slopes
And might give the false impression of the climbing difficulties
Also the current view of the mountain is at
and updated frequently

I like very much volcanoes and I've made several CGI views of Mount St Helens.
This summer I was fortunate enough to be able to see it with my own eyes (on my way to the ISU/NSA congres in Boise).
27 years after the cataclysmic explosion, nature has started to cover most of the devastation but you will still many of the broken trees, all trunks aligned in the same direction.
