I found that the "overcast" sky is devoid of individual inflections thus making it useless to enhance details.  It's pretty much an even expanse, so I tried cropping down to the top of the boat masts on the left.  As you have said, the human brain fills in the missing portion of the tree in the subconscious mind.

Good overall composition.  Unless my eyes are playing tricks the sky appears to have faint clouds or tones.  If so, why not bring them out more, rather than
settle for that large expanse of empty-looking sky?
