(326K)In this view I was standing near the entrance to Christie's, looking toward West 49th St.
Across the street is the GE building, formerly the RCA building, where NBC has its headquarters. Conan O'Brien, Howdy Doody, Saturday Night Live, the Tonight Show and the Today Show have all been broadcast from this location. The Today Show was originally broadcast from a studio on the same side of the street as Christie's. After many years in the GE building, it moved across the street again, to the corner of Rockefeller Plaza and 49th Street. The Tonight Show moved to Burbank, California in the seventies.
