- My Grape Arbor
-
After two decades of producing only sparse grapes, it appears this year I
might have something again. They're still growing and should turn red in a
month or two.
Had I known they would produce this year, I'd have taken better care in
organizing the vines. Last spring I redid the top portion of the
arbor. I still have some home made wine from 1985, the year I bought the
place. That year I also made grape juice, grape syrup, and grape
jelly. (I hate to waste anything).
The next year I had plenty of grapes too, but I wasn't as careful making
the wine and it didn't turn out as good. Hint: That kind of wine has
proven to be a good marinade for steaks!
A year or two later a strong storm ushered winds which blew the old arbor
down. That's when I rebuilt it the first time.
