I guess cropping the image made the background more distractive. It was a trade off... more detail in the main subject vrs background distraction.

Here's the image with less cropping, presumably les background distraction but of course less focus on the main subject.

Nice shot of the boys and the tree, only the clutter in the background (pole, wires) detracts a little.
