Hi Brian,

I like what you did to Mainer's image, which was pretty nice to start with, but your addition of lights to the tree really made the seasonal quality of the image match the written message. Two days ago I was working on creating a winter holidays 3D slideshow. I had an anaglyph that I had just made of my backyard after a recent light dusting snow. It was a very pretty scene, but I was thinking today that I must come up with a way to add lights around the trees to outline the trunks and branches. I suspect that your use of Vexer is just the solution I was looking for. However when I checked out the websight and looked at the examples of what was done with Vexer, I realized that what you did is a considerable reach from what was presented in the gallery.

Would you be good enough to elaborate on your technique for adding the lights to the tree?

I will post my image shortly, and if you are so inclined I would appreciate seeing what you can do and then I would try to replicate the results. I just became the head of the graphics workshop for my computer club and think that this would be a nice topic to share with our members. I would call it the Brian effect.

Thanks and seasons greeting to you,

Bill Silverman

Hi Mainer,

I've had a little program for a while that I haven't used much.  It's a drawing program which has an option to draw in 3D and also allows you to change the depth, color, brushes, etc.  With a little experimentation I was able to adapt it to simulate white lights on your tree.  (I used the erase option instead of color).  Before sending you my results I did a search on the web to see if there was a newer version and there was.  The program is called Vexer 46.  (I used Vexer 44 from 2007).  The program is only 567 KB file size.  Here is the web site to the newer version... http://www.kelbv. com/vexer. php

I've attached my lights version with this email.

Thanks for for the very nice image!
Brian
