When Betty and I move to this area in north east Indiana almost 40 years ago, these one room school house dotted the landscape every three or four miles. There were a few turned into houses, but most have been torn down to clear farmland, sale the bricks, or for revenge from those that hated to go to school. This one was being demolished, when, and elderly lady who attended the school passed by - was shocked - and immediately bought the property to salvage what was left as a 'land preserve'. Intentions are to clean the property up as much as possible to make it safe for tourist and leave what is left of the building.
