The Ulster County Crafts Show is held twice per year, the
first is run during the Memorial Day Weekend in May, while the final event runs
on the
Labor Day weekend in September. Although the fair
has an informal country demeanor, much of the craft items offered up
for sale have high price tags.
Probably owing to the weakened economic front the
attendance appeared to have been significantly lower than during
previous years. The upside of this was that
it was easier to walk about and photograph, and it was a
breeze obtaining food and drinks.
Located fittingly at the Ulster County Fairgrounds
several huge tents were set up to house the vendors, which provided cooling
shade, but also made
for dim lighting and not-so-great conditions for optimal
photography. Although there was much to tempt us, neither I nor my wife
allowed much
money to escape our hands. We stayed for about two
hours, and then drove to nearby New Paltz for dinner before returning
home.
