Hi Tim!
I think everything is a compromise...

If we choose a close near point, we must working with a certain ( little ) base. At this moment we discard the depth at the far scene......
If we choose the background  for good depth, we must use larger base and in the same time we must choose a farer near point...

If you see the FULL HD image of  Frans, where there is a columnn in the near and in the far there are houses.....
I think this: for the column the base is too big: result cardboarding, for the houses the base is too little, result: again cardboarding.

Impossible to increase the depth of the background without increasing the base....

Hi Imre,

I just wanted to ask you about your card boarding comments for these pictures. Does the background need to have depth to be effective? How would you increase the depth of the background with out altering the stereo base? Wouldn't there be a trade-off in making the foreground hyper?

Hi!
Indisputably this is a very nice image and impressive depth...
But I think stereoscopically is false....
After the water nothinj has depth...
The background behind the water is a 2D poster.

Wojtek, a 500 kb limit would indeed extend the range of presentable
anaglyphs but what about non-DSL users ?

One solution I used long ago is restrict the email size at the
server side, but I don't know if that is a general feature.
An even better solution would be to resize them at the servers side
before forwarding them, but I never saw anything like that at Yahoo.

About the added anaglyph: if the background looks too flat, just
increment the viewing distance (old trick).
