?

Thanks Jay.

When I tried to find out what kind of turtle this was, I looked at pictures along with descriptions from the internet and "Bog Turtle" was the best fit.

The leaf image was reduced to a more "artsy" type of image and to be honest, it didn't matter much to me if it lost it's leaf characteristics as I was more interested in light and shadow.  I used a filter or two as well as cloning and painting out many of the small intruding branches.  This was the second version but I have attached the first version if you're curious.  It retained a touch more of the leaf texture but to me there's only a slight difference.

Nice capture. I've never heard of bog turtles. Are they called that because of living in muddy waters?

I liked your  pine branch and didn't find the r/r distracting.
I liked  your leaf less because if you hadn't said what it was I wouldn't have recognised it as a leaf. I think it needed a context.

~ Bog Turtle #3  ~
(Lake Waterford Park - Pasadena, MD)

On my first trip to Lake Waterford Park this year I saw many turtles resting on logs.  I was surprised how skittish they were, never letting me get close enough for any shots.  I came back in a few days with my zoom lenses with the idea of capturing some by being more careful as I walked the shore.  To my surprise, I found this one that had climbed a steep hill and was waiting there just for me.
