Tim,
I'm envious! When I was young, my favorite magazine was "Famous
Monsters of Filmland", which was produced by Forrest Ackerman. In fact,
that's where I first learned about Lon Chaney Sr. and tidbits about all those
old horror flicks. I was not close to a magazine store that carried it, so
my Aunt who lived in Dover Delaware would occasionally bring me one. I
used to cut the pictures out and tape them above my bed. My mother became
very worried about me! : ) Later, I had lots of fun making albums
with pictures of scenes and creatures found in the magazine. I would cut
out the faces of myself, my siblings and cousins and paste them over the face of
the character in the movie, then make up corny captions like Ackerman always had
in the magazine.
Attached is an example of what I'm talking about. Long before
home computers, this had to be the forerunner to Photoshop.
A "still" from "The Hunchback of Nortre Dame". Left to right...
Myself, my brothers Woody, Wally, and my sister Renie.
Cheers,
Brian

Thanks Brian. I forgot to resize the image before posting, a bad
habit that is now on my list of New year's resolutions! Thanks for the
background info on this picture, you know your silent film history! I
took the picture from an auction site, they were auctioning the original
hat and teeth props.
Originally they belonged to Forrest Ackerman and were proudly
displayed in his Ackermansion in CA. I was fortunate enough to vist
the mansion many years ago and see his vast treasure trove of movie
artifacts.

I think he also forgot to open the window before he jumped
out. : )
"Lon Chaney Sr." (Loved that guy!) in
London After Midnight (1927 MGM film).
Thanks for the conversion Tim. It was a bit large, but I
resized and saved it.
Cheers,
Brian

(lets try this again with pic attatched)
I found this rare portrait of Professor
Scmekenhiemer, the inventor of the FW!! Sadly he committed
suicide by jumping out the 2nd story building of an NSA
convention. Talk about the ultimate window violation!!
