You did a good job dealing with the great brightness range.  I think the shadow/highlight tool in PS would be very useful here. 
 
The breaking waves look very dramatic.  Why does she look kind of unhappy?

I found it very hard lighting wise to photograph the waves and Kayleen, next time I will take a wireless flash and use a voice controlled stand ( a person) I had to do some work in photoshop to lighten her face to bring it out.
