Very nice, Mainer.  This is a member of what is called giant June moths; in years back when the caterpillar had plenty to eat they were usually 5-6 inches. 

You have recorded a rarity.

Luna Moth hanging all day on my screen door. Rather large at about 2.5 inches. Shoulders are reddish.
