Yes, I have seen several reports on the web about the so-so quality of the Fuji lenses.  The quality of the Canon lenses in my twin rig are amazingly good for point-and-shoot cameras, even better than the 18X zoom on my Panasonic FZ28.  As you say, lens faults are much more noticeable with high degrees of enlargement.

The quality of your canon lenses are not comparable with this Fuji. I see bad pixelated picture if i enlarge my Fuji pictures to its actual size or to 100% but my Canon pictures are Cristal clear in its actual size!
Most often i crop a part of my picture that i take by my Canon rig to create a new pair but i can't easily do that with the Fuji pictures:-(
