The History Brush method is one introduced by Tibor Gyuris, a mutual Flickr friend of Tim and myself.  Tim put together the steps as a tutorial and did a terrific job.  I think it is an easier process if you already have Photoshop, plus you have all the other image manipulation capabilities within PS if needed.  The task of pixel shifting while varying depth is more labor intensive through SPM which was not designed for converting entire images via the cloning tool although the digital process is based on the same principle.

Interesting OOF. Have you found Tim's method easier/better than your usual SPM?

OOF Wildflowers - Grayscale OOF, done through PS.
 
Conversion done using the "History Brush" method, (Tutorial by Tim Johnson, in the "Anaglyphs Group - Files" section).
